Advice

If I was hired by Baruch College to improve the college by using new media, I would implement the use of Reddit. Reddit users create forums where they can ask a question or start a discussion on a specific topic. Anyone from anywhere can answer and other people can up vote or down vote your comment. I think it would be a great idea for Baruch to have an account where students can ask questions and have it answered by other Baruch students.

    There is actually a Baruch College Reddit! (https://www.reddit.com/r/Baruch/) As far as I can tell not many people know about it but I think it would be a great idea to expose this to more students to get more interaction on the page.

    Yes there is one already but I would encourage students to use it more and maybe even staff so everyone can see others point of view.

Currently the McGraw Hill Connect mobile app doesn't allow students to read or do assignments on their phone. Social networking

Social networking is useful in many ways. It can be used to communicate with friends or meet new people (on Instagram and Facebook), make yourself known to employers (on LinkedIn), and advertising your business for free (again on Instagram and Facebook). According to the article “Social Networking Technology Boosts Job Recruiting”, Maureen Crawford-Hentz, recruiter for Osram Sylvania, stated ”Social networking technology is absolutely the best thing to happen to recruiting — ever.” Although social media has its positive effects, there is definitely a dark side to it. People make fake accounts and pretend to be other people (as seen on MTV’s Catfish). There’s also cyberbullying where people bully others through their keyboards. Privacy is also a concern.
