A new media that doesn't exist yet.. maybe McGraw Hill Connect mobile app.. that actually works. Currently the McGraw Hill Connect mobile app doesn't allow students to read or do assignments on their phone. As a student, I'm always on the go and sometimes when your traveling you find opportunities where you can read or answer a few homework questions to keep busy. Their current app does nothing.

  1. Yes! I agree. I remember taking a management class last semester and wanting to do my assignments through my phone but it really was not user-friendly at all. The interface just mimicked the website and wasn't optimized for mobile if I'm remembering correctly.

  2. Totally agree that an app should be built out. Don't know if this is considered a "new media" example though, since apps aren't really new. I'd definitely be a buyer of the app though.

  3. I agree, since most classes uses their textbook an online platform this would be really good for students who are always busy and while on the train could do some of their work.

Advice

If I was hired by Baruch College to improve the college by using new media, I would implement the use of Reddit. Reddit users create forums where they can ask a question or start a discussion on a specific topic. Anyone from anywhere can answer and other people can up vote or down vote your comment. I think it would be a great idea for Baruch to have an account where students can ask questions and have it answered by other Baruch students.

YouTube vs. TV

YouTube has content for  everyone . For example, there are many YouTuber's that post vlogs (blogs in video form), comedic skits, pranks, tutorials, DIY's, just to name a few! YouTube has provided us all with content that we wouldn't be able to find elsewhere.  I think we can all attest that  YouTube is great, but is it better than TV? I will be researching this topic from an economical, technological, and educational perspective. I'll also be discussing about the positive/negative effects and impact YouTube has on society.
